Back on the course:
I didn’t think I'd be writing my first blog post with blisters on my hands and grass stains on my shoes—but here we are.
Golf has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a county where golf wasn’t necessarily popular (baseball was, which I also love. More on this later). I then played at the University of Georgia, where I realized Athens is my favorite place in the world (besides the beach, obviously). These days, I’m not playing for a team—but the game still finds its way back into my life after a brief hiatus.
I’ve been back in my golf groove for some time, playing tournaments here and there with friends, but also some individual ones (shoutout to winning the Palm Beach County Am). This past week, I was invited to play at UGA, a course I haven’t touched since 2021 due to a little bit of trauma, but also where I hold a lot of happy memories. To say this recent round quite literally healed me! I was with old friends, drinking beer, listening to some Zach Top, and making some birdies I never thought would be possible- I got he bug now. Good news, tho, I’m about to spend the whole week playing some insane tracks in New York like Meadowbrook and Hudson National (I’ll be sure to share with y’all).
Golf isn’t just about a score or pressure anymore, which honestly has been liberating. I can have fun, joke around, have a few drinks, and actually have FUN with some people I enjoy playing with. Not to mention, the outfits have improved drastically.
I’ll be sharing more soon—from course style and game tips, to how golf blends into my work, travel, and personal life.
Not every post will be about golf—but this felt like the perfect place to start.
Because Mermaid in Cowboy Boots isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about growth, and grace under pressure. And golf? She’s all of that.
See you on the next tee. Or beach chair, whatever your groove is.
